When we first met in 1992, we couldn’t have foreseen the many adventures that would eventually lead to the creation of Wild Coast Alaska.  In hindsight, it’s not so surprising where we ended up.  As Karl says, “I knew Angie was the girl for me when, on the first day we met, she asked me to take her fishing.”  As they say, the rest is history.

We both spent much of our childhoods outdoors – camping, hiking, skiing, hunting, fishing and boating.  We have enjoyed that outdoor life together, with many adventures continuing old family traditions and starting some new ones, too.  No matter where we were living, we always came back to the water.  We’ve been fortunate enough to fish all over the US, including high mountain lakes and streams of the Rocky Mountains and both coasts, as well as in Mexico and the Caribbean.  We enjoyed many wonderful charters – and endured a few less than wonderful ones, learning much along the way.

But it was having our son, Cody, and introducing him to the outdoors, and fishing in particular, that drew us to the idea of running our own charter fishing business.  He has grown up loving fishing, especially in Florida and Alaska.  And watching his eyes light up as he drops the perfect cast in front of a tailing redfish, or struggles and then finally lands that halibut that weighs more than he does, we’ve learned that helping others discover the joy of fishing a wild coast, wherever that coast may be, is the most rewarding.  It was time to turn our passion for fishing and sharing that with others from a hobby into something more.

Alaska is known by many names – The Land of the Midnight Sun, The Last Frontier, The Land of Promise.  For us, it is also known as home.  Like so many before us, our adventures in Alaska began years ago, but with each trip, whether on a remote float trip down the Kwethluk River, weeks spent chartering our own boat in Ketchikan, or the many adventures on the Kenai Peninsula, we fell in love with the cold, clear water and the beautiful mountains of Alaska.  We would love to share Alaska with you and your family.  Join us aboard the Fiskr Valhalla and at the Beach House, and discover what joys the wild coast of Alaska holds for you…
